Description:
Position Scope:
Establish the merchandise strategy for the E-Commerce Channel. Drive the execution of the plan and strategy through the e-commerce buying team. Identify and manage the merchandising programs for all categories supporting the Company's strategies. Key responsibilities include: planning, comp sales growth, purchase decisions, financial planning, inventory and gross margin management, and brand management for girls, guys and accessories assortments (chain buys plus web exclusives). The Merchandiser is responsible for the success of their business unit and is expected to use their fashion intuition to direct the assortment of their category. The Merchandiser will reconcile all performance gaps and establish action plans to attain them. Work closely with all store DMs to deliver the optimal assortment to the online customer. Partner with Planning to establish quarterly OTB.
Essential Duties:
STRATEGIC PLANNING: Set strategy to test and roll out online exclusive category opportunities. Strategically direct the category groups. Drive execution through their staff to meet or exceed both quantifiable and quantitative goals. Drive the execution of the plan for the category.
BRAND MANAGEMENT: Attend branded vendors appointments. Participate in the Private Label Product Development process as appropriate. Purchase branded product from the branded market and Private Label from PacSun in house Design/Product Development.• Identifies and manages emerging and declining trends in a timely manner.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Manage, mentor and coach their staff. Create development plans and manage to their attainment
In addition to the performance of the job responsibilities mentioned above, this position may be required to perform supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based on the particular requirements of the operation. Requirements: Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years retail buying experience in either a specialty, e-commerce or vertical environment and a Bachelor's degree.
•The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
•Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•Must have strong communication skills,
•Through knowledge of retail Math such as gross margin, open to buy calculations, initial mark up calculations, turnover etc.
•Ability to work as a team member.
•Must be task driven and pro-active when it comes to executing tasks.
•Internet experience a plus
